东南网澳大利亚站7月30日讯 （本站记者 彭寒）刚刚到任的中国驻悉尼第12任总领事顾小杰于悉尼时间30日下午分别到访了包括澳大利亚华人团体协会，澳洲中国和平统一促进会在内的多家华人社团，盛赞在澳侨社对推动两国文化交流以及促进海外侨胞与祖籍国联系等方面所作出的突出贡献。

顾小杰在访问澳大利亚华人团体协会时表示，华协会作为侨社楷模，为促进侨胞的团结，加强其与祖籍国的联系等作出了突出贡献，作为总领事，他对此非常感谢和敬佩。

“中国现在在国际上经济实力第二，综合国力不断发展，加之中澳现在又是全面战略伙伴关系，这些都给予我们的工作以强大的动力。”顾小杰盛赞各侨团在澳工作的同时，也对未来充满了信心。

华协会主席吴昌茂医生对顾小杰的看法表示认同，并认为顾小杰丰富的外交经验能帮助悉尼地区的华人社团得到进一步的发展。

另外，顾小杰对在澳华人社团支持中国政府在南海仲裁案事件中维护主权表示赞赏，“谢谢我们澳大利亚的侨团为中国发出正义的声音。”

顾小杰1959年出生于中国苏州，从事外交工作已经三十年有余。曾任中国外交部非洲司副司长，中国驻尼日利亚联邦共和国大使，中国外交部办公厅副主任等职务。

Newly Appointed Chinese Consul General in Sydney Visits Local Chinese Associations

Gu Xiaojie, the newly appointed Consul General of China in Sydney, spoke highly of the roles that local Chinese associations have been playing in terms of bridging overseas Chinese and their home country, during his visit today in several associations in Sydney.

“China is now the second largest economy in the world, as well as the most important trading partner of Australia. That paves our way to a brighter future. Overseas Chinese groups like Australian Council of Chinese Association have been playing a critical role in terms of bridging what’s in between overseas Chinese and their home country.” Said Gu during his visit at Australian Council of Chinese Association.

Mr. Gu also spoke highly of local Chinese groups for their support backing Chinese government over the South China Sea dispute. “I sincerely thank and respect every group who’s been speaking for the righteousness.” Said him.

Mr. Gu, the former Chinese ambassador in Nigeria, has been working in the departments of Chinese Foreign Ministry for over 30 years.
